Ovarian Cancer

Every 24 minutes, a woman is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In Oregon and Washington combined, there are about 800 new cases each year. These people are our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and friends.

Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers and the fifth leading cause of cancer in women. The vast majority (85%) of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are diagnosed in stages III and IV, just 46% of these women live beyond five years.

Call to Action: Teal Ribbon Fun Walk

In light of these dismal statistics, we must do more to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. Towards this goal, OCAOSW is executing the Teal Ribbon Fun Walk, scheduled for June 21, 2025. There is no screening test for ovarian cancer, and knowledge can be key to early detection. Survival rates improve with an early stage diagnosis, so people should know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.

This 1.5 mile walk around the Oregon Zoo is an opportunity for families, survivors, friends, and supporters to come together for a common cause. View the walk map here.

• Unite our local ovarian cancer community, including survivors, friends, families, medical professionals, and advocates, for a common goal
