super hero stories

PHYLLIS

Diagnosed at 45; Super Hero at 65

“I knew something was wrong. I could feel a mass in my abdomen. Yet my primary care doctor wanted to wait and see. But I said, ‘No way!’

You see, I had a family history of breast cancer going back to my grandmother. After seeking a second opinion I was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer.

“There is no definitive test for ovarian cancer. So, you have to be your own test. If something doesn’t feel right, do something about it. You know your body better than anyone. Listen to it. Trust your gut. You are your own best advocate.”
