The Latest on Diagnosis and Treatment

Join us for the annual Ovarian Cancer Medical Update on Wednesday, June 28, 7:00pm-8:15pm. The update will focus on ovarian cancer information including the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Ross Harrison is the featured speaker.

Dr. Harrison is an assistant professor of gynecologic oncology and provides surgical and medical treatment for patients diagnosed with cervical, endometrial, ovarian, and other gynecologic cancers. For patients with these conditions, he is able to perform minimally-invasive procedures including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Compared to conventional surgical approaches, these techniques can reduce hospital stays and allow for quicker postoperative recovery, allowing patients to return to normal activity faster.

Dr. Harrison believes in working closely with the patient and her other doctors to provide high quality care through a multidisciplinary approach that is aligned with the patient’s priorities and preferences.

He studies health services research – a field that examines how social factors affect access to health care, as well as the cost, quality, and outcomes of health care services. His interests within this field include cost-effectiveness evaluation, decision analysis, and financial toxicity. Dr. Harrison has published studies in these areas, and he is a peer reviewer for multiple journals.

After graduating from medical school at the University of Florida, Dr. Harrison completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. After residency, he completed a four-year fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. During his fellowship, he completed a Master in Public Health degree with a focus in healthcare administration from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Harrison is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. In his spare time, Dr. Harrison enjoys running, cooking for family and friends, and exploring Portland.
