Mission:  promote ovarian cancer awareness and education; support those diagnosed and survivors; and advocate for public policy and funding.

Wear Teal Day 9/1/17

  • 01 Sep 2017
  • everywhere

Help raise awareness for ovarian cancer and its symptoms on Friday, September 1st, National Wear Teal Day.

Ovarian cancer advocates nationwide will don teal clothes in support of ovarian cancer awareness.

So, get out that teal cape and super hero belt, and let others know about the symptoms of ovarian cancer:

  • Bloating
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
  • Urinary symptoms (urgency or frequency)

The recommendation for a woman with any of these symptoms is that she see her doctor, preferably a gynecologist, if the symptoms are new and unusual and occur more than 12 times during the course of one month. Experts suggest a combination pelvic/rectal exam, CA 125 blood test, and a transvaginal ultrasound.
