Mission: promote ovarian cancer awareness and education; support those diagnosed and survivors; and advocate for public policy and funding.
Train (or re-train) as a Peer Mentor and help another woman who is facing a diagnosis of ovarian cancer or recurrence.
The Peer Mentoring program is a big part of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington, and one way we help women who are dealing with a scary diagnosis or a recurrence of their ovarian cancer.
This partial-day class is offered to current Peer Mentors (good to refresh your skills and learn new methods of communication), and to those who would like to become a Peer Mentor for the first time. The training will be led by Susan Hedlund, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C.
All Peer Mentors must be ovarian cancer, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer survivors.
The training is free of charge, and will include lunch. Complimentary parking is available onsite.
For those who want to attend and live outside the Portland-Vancouver metro area, the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington can assist with financial aid to help defray expenses. Recipients must live in Oregon or SW Washington to qualify.
