Join us for an introduction to the nourishing impact of mindfulness practice. We will explore the how's and why's mindfulness is such a powerful tool for navigating life's challenges.

Mindfulness can: help relieve stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.

The evening will include a brief review of the rational, evidence and practices of mindfulness with opportunity to experience and share.

There will be a Q&A segment after the presentation.

About the Presenter:

Kimberly Carson, MPH, C-IAYT, has worked as a mindfulness educator and yoga therapist specializing in the therapeutic use and scientific study of mindfulness and yoga for people with medical challenges for over 20 years. She has taught Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for over two decades, and was a founding member of the Duke Integrative Medicine Center, a part of Duke University Health Systems. She has co-authored dozens of peer-reviewed articles, including the first clinical trials of a mindfulness for couples protocol and the first loving kindness for low back pain intervention.

Kimberly’s Mindful Yoga program has been shown in research trials at OHSU and Duke to significantly reduce pain and fatigue in those living with chronic pain and cancer. Kimberly began co-directing national professional trainings for yoga teachers and allied health professionals in 2008 at OHSU, Duke Integrative Medicine, VA Centers, Kripalu and other locations around the country. Her new book, Relax Into Yoga for Chronic Pain was published in January 2020.
